Week 1 Day 3 Rest Day







Well done you have completed two days of the Bikini Challenge and now your muscles deserve a break! Tomorrow is rest day! 

Why are rest days so important?


Your muscles grow when you rest. Exercising breaks down your muscle and it is the rebuilding that makes you tougher so refusing to take rest days will negate all that hard work you have done. Plus over-training has a lot of health consequences including weight-gain!!!

People often worry that taking a rest day will set them back in their training but in reality not resting will cause your muscles to get weaker as opposed to stronger. 

Few tips:

1. Keep Active:
This does not mean going for a long run, yoga etc. This means going for a walk, go shopping, take your dog for a walk etc. Take it easy but don't sit on the couch all evening.

2. Don't feel guilty
Resting is not cheating so get that into your head. You have to look after your body and treat it with respect in order for it respond to the exercises.

3. Don't restrict your calories
Just because you didn't workout today does not mean you have to restrict yourself of food. Listen to your body. On the days you don't workout you will find that you are not as hungry.

4. Get Sleep
Make sure you get a full nights sleep and be energised for the next day.

5. Drink Water
Make sure you keep drinking loads of water as it helps your muscles to recover quicker.

So enjoy your rest day as we have three more challenge days to follow before your next rest day!
